Baby Bunny Outfit

Hop-a-long to a Wonderful Baby Wardrobe

If Halloween or Easter is approaching, you may have visions of your baby dressed up as a little bunny. Like your baby, bunnies are cute, cuddly, and they beg to be squeezed. If you already have your wallet in one hand and are ready to head off in search of that super-cute costume, consider a few important things. First, when buying a baby bunny outfit consider the fabric. Check to make sure it is soft and nonabrasive. You do not want your baby to be itchy or uncomfortable, making for a very unhappy baby bunny! Make sure the outfit comes on and off easily. Does it snap between the legs for easy diaper change? An adorable outfit loses a bit of its appeal if you have to wiggle your baby out of the entire costume for a diaper check. Does the outfit have a hood that could possibly inhibit your baby's breathing if it slips in front of the baby's face? Is the suit too heavy or too thick for the climate in which your baby will be wearing it? Think about safety and comfort. Where do I find a bunny outfit for my baby? Here are some ideas:
  • Check your local costume store. They usually have a small selection of infant costumes.
  • Log onto the Internet. It's a fast, convenient alternative to shopping around and the costume will be delivered to you. If you do not want to spend a lot of money or buy your baby's bunny outfit, you might want to try making one. A homemade baby bunny outfit is a simple creation, to begin:
  • Purchase your baby a solid white jumper or onesie.
  • Sew a big, fluffy cotton ball to the backside.
  • Purchase an inexpensive white cap and sew or hot glue bunny ears on to it. It is adorable to see whiskers or a pink bunny nose on your baby's face, but be aware that adult cosmetics may irritate already sensitive baby skin. If you do decide to use makeup, consider using a safer alternative. You can make homemade makeup using this recipe. 1. Mix two tablespoons of cornstarch with one tablespoon of solid shortening. 2. Divide the mixture into little piles, and place on wax paper. Color with food coloring. 3. Apply your homemade makeup sparingly to your baby's skin by using your fingertips or a make-up sponge. Do not get it anywhere near your baby's eyes. Pat baby powder over the makeup to seal in the look. Have fun mulling over the suggestions, and choose the bunny suit that best suits your baby!
