Newborn Baby Toys

Younger Babies May Require Additional Stimulation

From the moment a baby emerges from his long journey into the world, he takes in the sights and sounds around him. No longer is his world a muffled collection of blurred rhythms and senses. The world is bright and filled with stimulation at every turn. Newborn baby toys add to a baby's intrigue and delight with their blend of stimulating visuals, noises and textures. We have come a long way from believing that all infants need is nourishment and sleep for strong development. Infants are curious, and they thirst for stimulation and discovery. Among the most popular newborn baby toys are the infant educational stimulation toys. Although newborns can see as soon as they are born, their vision is not truly honed. Studies have shown that infants respond best to bold and contrasting colors through the first six months of their development. Therefore, visual extremes like black and white or red and white are often the basis for educational newborn baby toys. There are groups of toys that follow this philosophy so that baby can not only enjoy playtime, but can also grow optimally from the play experience. Early stimulation and learning are believed by many professionals to help baby's I.Q., aid in growth and weight gain, accelerate muscle control and gross motor development, increase hand-eye coordination, and enhance curiosity and attention span. Following is a list of some fun and stimulating newborn baby toys:
  • Newborn Flashcards: These large, plastic-coated cards are often produced in bold, contrasting colors. The cards showcase images of baby faces and graphics that your newborn is most likely to recognize.
  • Car Activity Center: Activity centers strap onto baby's car seat and provide constant entertainment through a variety of touch, visual, and auditory possibilities.
  • Mobiles: Whether you choose soft colored animals or intricate graphic patterns, babies love to lie in their cribs and watch their mobiles spin. They are intrigued to stare at the moving objects as they listen intently to the melodies and jingles.
  • Clutch cubes: These clever toys are multi-functional with their rattles, chew parts, flaps for peeking, rings, and jingle sounds. Baby can continue to discover the many modes of entertainment through experimentation and play.
  • Rattle: One of the most traditional newborn baby toys, rattles provide constant biting, visual, and auditory stimulation.
  • Mirrors: Babies are intrigued by their own reflections, and a plastic, flexible and safe crib or car mirror provides lots of changing entertainment. As baby kicks and wiggles, muscle development is enhanced.
  • Activity Mats: Provide a wonderful play arena for our littlest babies as they can move and wiggle, rock and experiment with motion on a safe and stimulating surface. With touch sensitive music and sounds, baby can begin to learn that his actions control his environment. Newborn baby toys provide our children with increased growth potential and good old-fashioned fun! As babies explore their new worlds through toys, they not only learn more about their environments and their own personal control, but they increase their independent play skills as well. One only has to watch a new baby kicking and cooing in response to a melody or a rattle to realize the salience of surrounding them with toys. Those smiles will say it all.
