As a first step, brainstorm ideas of how you want to represent the lamb in your invitation cards. Image examples include:
- A newborn baby and a lamb
- A toddler playing with a lamb
- Playful lambs romping in the fields near their parents
- "Counting sheep"; a lamb jumps over the fence with more lined up ready to jump
- Jesus and a lamb
- A whimsical lamb created with cotton fluff
Here are a few easy ideas to jumpstart your own:
- Create a border around the opening verse on the front of your card with tiny pictures of lambs. Sprinkle a few lamb images on the inside pages around the information given for the shower.
- Make the lamb for the front of the card. After designing the picture, fill it in with wool, cotton balls or a similar soft material. If the baby's gender is known, give the lamb a pink or blue bow. For eyes, visit a craft store and purchase the gentle, cute ones used by doll makers or create your eyes with buttons and beads.
Whether you create and print from your computer will determine the type of paper you will use for your project. Generally, lighter weight papers such as cotton and recycled work better with ink jet printers. Templates can be used to cut the invitations from printed-paper and before manually creating your invitations.
