Priting Your Own Lovely Baby Shower Invites

If you are designing your baby shower invitation on the computer, the place to start is the Internet. Search for baby clipart and printable templates. There are some excellent websites, such as BabyTidings.com, that offer a one-stop-shop for all of the pieces you'll need:
  • A broad selection of cute, fun, or formal baby images, organized by theme.
  • WordArt to fit the occasion, such as "You're Invited to a Shower!"
  • Borders of all kinds and sizes to fit the paper of your choice.
  • Templates for many paper sizes: half-fold, 1/3 fold, 5" x 7", etc.
  • Instructions on how to personalize and print your invitations.
There have been many breakthroughs in color home printers in the past few years, which should be very encouraging to those who want to make their own baby shower invitations on the computer. Printers are much cheaper than they used to be, usually not more than $100, and sometimes come free when you buy a new computer. They print in bold, beautiful colors, and they don't require any special technical skills to use them.

Using your word processor and invitation template, select a font that suits your theme for your introduction and invitation details. With word processors offering so many font selections these days, and with even more fonts available for download from the Internet, you're bound to find the perfect look for your theme, whether it be a handwriting font, a jungle font, or you name it!

Finally, using your home printer gives you the opportunity for unlimited test-prints. You can proof to your heart's content and be doubly sure that the layout fits perfectly on the page.

A word of caution on paper selections: you may have to go through some trial and error before you find the right paper thickness for your printer. Some home models don't perform well with heavy bond paper. It's best to find the paper you want in two or three different weights. Most large home office stores stock huge selections of paper. Look for card-size paper that is pre-tested for inkjet printers and you're bound to save yourself some time.
