One popular way to go is to create your invitation around the nursery rhyme favorite "Twinkle, Twinkle Little Star." This seems to invite whimsical pictures of stars with cute, button noses and dimpled smiles. You can also create your own invitation card verse that plays on the nursery rhyme. Count the syllables, follow the rhyme pattern, and exchange words with your own. For example:
"Twinkle, Twinkle Little Star, How we wonder who you are. Gift from Heaven, life anew, We shall soon be greeting you!"Another popular star theme is "A Star is Born". Every baby is a shining star, and, to convey the excitement, you could make the shower invitation shine with gold and silver stars.
If you decide to go with a heavenly theme, have the invitation feature a guiding star on the front of the card. When the invitation is opened, it will guide friends and family to the baby shower. Stars in the night sky create their own sense of wonder and awe. An invitation with a navy blue background and white or silver sparkling stars would also be a nice choice.
If you know the colors of the baby's nursery, you might want to use them as the color scheme for your invitations to encourage gifts in these colors. Shower invitations can be in pastel or bold colors.
Here are a few tips for creating a star baby shower invitation:
- Create pictures of stars using clipart, a template, or rubber stamps.
- Combine clipart pictures to create your own scene. For example, a newborn babe, smiling sweetly and reaching up towards a star.
- Sprinkle your cards with magical stardust. This can be in the form of glitter, maybe irridescent, white, or another color that gently washes over the pictures or the background.
- After creating a star on the front of the card, glue on a narrow cloth ribbon to form a tail on the star in matching colors.

Finally, be sure to include information about the shower in your invitations. The date and time of the baby shower, name of the guest of honor, the party theme, any items you may be asking guests to bring for the mom, and an RSVP request. Indicating appropriate attire will help guests feel more comfortable. If the mother has registered for gifts, tuck a small card into the invitation.
