Tea Party Baby Shower Invitation Design

Serve Up Beautiful Invitations with a Classic Theme

It's tea time! A tea party theme for a baby shower is a fun way to toast the future and the birth of a newborn. Perhaps you are hosting a shower with a different theme, but one that will feature a tea party setting, complete with china teapot, tiny sandwiches, and delectable treats. Either way, you can invite families and friends to this special event by creating tea party baby shower invitations.

If the baby shower will have a nursery theme separate from the tea party, you might want to blend these together. For example, if the shower has a teddy bear theme, you could create an invitation design where the teddy bears wear frilly hats and sit at a table adorned with teapot, cups and treats.

While not all baby shower themes lend themselves to such perfect blends, you can still create a design on your card using graphics from one or more themes. For example, the front of the card might have a teacup or saucer next to the verse that mentions the tea, and an image representing the shower theme, such as a lamb or baby giraffe, next to the part that mentions the shower or baby. Complementary images can be coordinated by style and color.

If a tea party is the theme of the baby shower, then this will (of course!) be the focus of your card design. This theme offers many ideas. For inspiration, make yourself a nice cup of tea and begin jotting them down. Creative tea party invitation image suggestions include:
  • Combining graphic elements, either manually or online, to create a young child's fantasy tea party. Find graphics of little girls dressed in Mommy's high heels, feather and flower adorned hats, etc., and then combine with a table set for tea.
  • For a spring or summer time tea party, add whimsical garden applique, such as dragonflies, butterflies or flowers.
  • Use lace to create a tiny tablecloth on which you glue tea set appliqu?.
  • Create a collage of tea cozies, cups, pots, tea snacks, etc...
  • For a formal tea party, place the image of a pretty teapot or teacup along with a hat or white gloves on the front of the card.
  • For a playful tone, combine graphics to create a whimsical mouse wearing a frilly hat peeking out from a teapot.
  • Create a tea party scene with guests wearing outlandish hats. If this to be a traditional, "ladies only" baby shower, find graphics of hats with lots of feathers and frills.
While picturing the design you would like to create, also consider the colors you want to use. If you have the color scheme for the shower, try to use similar colors for your invitations, including your graphics and text. Use online clip art and templates to create the invitation design, and a word processing program using a font that matches the tone of your card. Or, start with blank cards or ones you cut yourself, and then manually create the designs with craft tools such as rubber stamps, stencils, and stickers. Either way, once the basic design and text are set, you'll be able to embellish with materials such as lace, ribbons, and applique.
