The children's classic song, "Teddy Bear's Picnic," may or may not be part of the theme, but either way you can have fun with the song's images in your cards. For example, your card could include pictures of cute baby teddy bears enjoying a picnic, complete with baby bottles.
Using the song for inspiration, consider writing a verse for your invitations. Count the syllables, follow the rhyme scheme, and switch words with your own leading guests to where you will hold the shower. The shower may even include a picnic that you will want to mention along with other details. More on this later!
If this is not a surprise shower, ask the guest of honor if she has a color scheme picked out yet for the baby's nursery. If so, using this color scheme in the cards might encourage gifts in matching colors. Since teddy bears come in all colors, do not feel restricted to the classic brown teddy bear.
Here are a few ideas that you may want to incorporate or use to jumpstart your own ideas for creating a teddy bear shower invitations:
- Combine clipart and other methods to create your own scene. Take the teddy bear picnic, for example. Arrange friendly-looking teddy bears alongside of picnic items, such as a picnic basket on a picnic blanket. Add picnic food and create the same scene using pictures of baby teddy bears, giving them baby food and bottles.
- A baby hugging a teddy bear can make a great image for your invitation. You will be able to come with lots of variations on this one too.
- Arrange tiny pictures of teddy bears on your cards. Place the bears in the borders or scatter them strategically around your verse and inside details.
- Create a picture of an adorable teddy bear on the front of the card that you can decorate. Embellish the picture with items such as ribbons, bows, and buttons.
- For a soft teddy bear on your card, use a template and some soft material, such as felt, to create the teddy bear. You can then use beads, ribbon, and buttons for the teddy bear's features.
Generally, lightweight papers work better with inkjet printers. Templates can be used to cut the cards from printed-paper or before manually creating your invitations.
