Adoption Birth Announcement

How to Announce Your Adoptive Birth

mother and newborn
You've waited patiently for the new addition to your family to arrive, and the moment is finally here. Your adopted baby is in your arms and you want to share the happy news with all those who've supported and loved you throughout the long but enormously rewarding adoption process.

An adoption birth announcement celebrates a new beginning. It commemorates the birth of a child, the creation of a family, and a dream come true for two people who have imagined this magical moment for years.

To announce the birth of your adopted baby and share the joy of this special moment, the right adoption birth announcement is of utmost importance. More than just an informative statement to friends and family about your baby's vital statistics and date of birth, the adoption birth announcement is a declaration of your promise to a lifetime commitment to love, nurture, guide and protect your adopted baby.

An adoption birth announcement is special, just like the baby it announces. Be sure to include the following in your announcement.
  • Baby's full name.
  • Baby's date of birth.
  • Baby's date of adoption, if different than their date of birth.
  • Place of birth, including the country of birth, if different than your own.
  • Baby's length and weight at birth.
  • Adoptive parent's names.
  • Natural birth mother's name (optional).
  • Adoptive grandparent's names (optional).
  • Adoptive sibling's names (optional).
  • Personal message (optional).
If you cannot locate a birth announcement that is as uniquely beautiful as your new baby, consider handcrafting your own. Birth announcements are not difficult to make and the resources for wonderful craft supplies are plentiful.

To get started, go to a local stationery store and look closely at the birth announcement offerings. Study the general wording and themes represented there, and then travel to a craft or scrapbooking store, and try to decide on a theme or color palette for your adoption birth announcements. By the time you arrive at the craft store you'll have a good idea of how you'd like your finished product to appear, but you may have concerns about how to do get the project done. Never fear - books and people shall appear!

Before you gather your supplies, take a look at some craft books that deal with the construction of greeting cards. You'll get a lot of good ideas from these books, and if you are worried about the project, there are almost always knowledgeable salespersons in these types of stores who can help you by simplifying and explaining the project's construction steps to you.

Once you have a design in mind and have your craft supplies, then it's time to put your adoption birth announcements together. Consider letting friends and family members help you. Because the adoption process is generally a long, emotional one, there are often special people who have helped you along the way. A lovely way to show your appreciation for their love and friendship is to include them in the conclusion of the adoption process, and in the celebration of your baby's birth and homecoming.

Every baby is an original. By using clipart, baby photos, specialty papers and embellishments, you will design and construct a one of a kind birth announcement to share the unique beauty of your adopted original with the world.
