Baby Girl Birth Announcement

Introducing Your New Daughter to the World at Large

baby girl birth announcement
You are going to have a beautiful baby girl! Visions of frilly pink dresses, tiny hair bows and tea parties fill your thoughts. You want your friends and family to know about this little princess who will soon fill your days with her lovely smile. You need to send out baby girl birth announcements.

What sets baby girl announcements apart from gender-neutral cards? Pink! Purple! Hearts and flowers and bows! By sending out baby girl announcements, you can show as much femininity as you desire. Of course, you don't have to use "traditional" baby girl colors. You can create beautiful announcements using soft greens, yellows, and even blues.

The general information contained in a birth announcement is usually the same regardless if the card is for a baby girl or a baby boy. Include the baby's name, date of birth, weight and length at birth, and the names of the parents. You can also include such things as siblings names, special verses, or poems or sayings. Remember, this announcement is a reflection of your family, so feel free to include anything that is important to you.

When thinking of a theme for a baby girl announcement, the first thing to do is think about what makes your family unique. Perhaps your theme could stem from a favorite hobby or pastime. Where else can you get inspiration?
  • You can look around your baby's room or nursery. Do you have a special motif that would lend itself to being on the birth announcement? For example, is the nursery filled with pictures of ballerinas in pink tutus, beautiful spring flowers, or even smiling ladybugs and colorful butterflies?
  • Look through picture books and books of nursery rhymes. Perhaps you could send out an announcement with a "Mother Goose" theme, or another family favorite.
  • Search the internet for appropriate clipart images that can be incorporated into your cards.
  • You can also scan poetry books for special passages to include on the front of the announcements.
  • Ask family and friends for ideas. Maybe you can find out from your own mother what type of announcement she sent out when you were born. How special would it be to send a similar card for your daughter?
Once you have your theme picked out, it's time to decide if you want to create the announcements by hand, on your computer or by professional printing. While there are pros and cons to all three, making the cards by hand is a popular choice because you can be sure to have unique and memorable announcements.

To create a beautiful card by hand that evokes the feeling of a fresh spring day, assemble the following supplies that can be purchased at craft stores: pink and white gingham paper, white paper, tiny pink or white bows, a glue stick, and colorful flower and butterfly die-cut shapes. To make the baby girl birth announcements, follow the steps below:
  • First, cut the pink and white gingham paper into 4x6 inch rectangles and the solid white paper into 3x5 inch rectangles.
  • Glue one solid white 3x5 inch paper in the center of each of the gingham rectangles. This gives the impression that the white paper has a cheery gingham border.
  • Across the top of the gingham paper, neatly write the words "A New Little Girl". Underneath these words, write "Has Arrived."
  • Next, list the baby's pertinent information directly under the above saying, beginning with the baby's name. Under the name should be the date of birth, under which will come weight at birth, then length at birth, and then the names of the parents.
  • Carefully glue the 2 or 3 die-cut colorful spring flowers at the very bottom of the card and a pretty butterfly or two on one side of the baby's information. Coupled with the tablecloth-like border, these touches bring to mind a cheery spring picnic.
  • Glue a white or pink bow at the very top of the announcement.
Your baby girl will bring you more joy than you can imagine. And, with a little planning, you can bring a smile to the faces of all your friends and family when they receive the wonderful news that your little one has arrived.
