Party favors are a great way to say 'Thank you!' to your baby shower guests. For only a few dollars a piece, you can come up with lots of creative baby shower favors to add to the festive atmosphere and let your guests know that you appreciate their attendance.
Most of the guests who attend baby showers are women; therefore, shower favors tend to be feminine in nature. But, there is no rule that says this must be the case. If you know your guests very well, a personalized gift might be appropriate, but if your shower guests will be co-workers or members of a mutual social club, consider a favor with universal appeal.
The theme of the baby shower is also an important point to consider. If you were using an angel theme, it would be fitting to offer favors with winged cherubs on them.
While it helps to know if the shower is for a girl or a boy, this, too, is not very important. Color schemes are traditionally pink for a girl, blue for a boy, and yellow or pale green if you do not know the baby's gender. Candy is always a good choice for a party favor. Hard candies, chocolate truffles, M&M's, jelly beans, Jordan almonds, bubble gum; anything you think your guests will like. Present them in either a cellophane wrapper tied with a beautiful ribbon, in a unique coffee mug, or inside a small baby bottle with a decorative label.
Any seasonal plant in an eye-catching container will be warmly received, but a perennial flowering plant symbolizing the beauty and renewal that is about to take place is an extra special gift. Baskets, ceramic pots, or small tin buckets with a bow tied around them all work very well as interesting plant holders.
Are your shower guests java lovers? Check your local area for businesses that sell fresh-roasted, gourmet coffees by the pound. Purchase a flavorful blend and fill individual Mason jars with coffee beans. Cover the top of the jar with colorful fabric and tie a ribbon or raffia bow around the fabric-covered neck of the jar. Place an adhesive label with a warm message on the jar, thanking your guest. A variation would be to purchase chocolat-covered coffee beans for the candy and coffee lovers at your celebration.
Assorted teas, packaged as the coffee beans above, make a wonderful shower favor, as well. They can be given to your guests alone, or with a special tea strainer, teacup, and saucer set. If you can afford to do it, placing a wide variety of specialty tea packets inside a teapot and then presenting teapots as favors would be an incredibly sweet surprise. Disney stores sell character teapots and could easily match many baby shower themes.
Everyone enjoys a good soak, an inexpensive way to share your love of the tub is to take delicately scented bath salts and place them into unique tins. Place a creative label on the bottom of the tin, and tie a small wooden scoop onto the container with a ribbon. Glycerin soap and a soft washcloth could be added to this favor, and if the tin is small enough, the washcloth with a ribbon around the top could act as a bag for all of the goodies!
Votive candles in a basket or a brightly colored fabric bag, with a package of your favorite incense sticks tied to the candle container with ribbon, make a sweetly scented favor. Aromatherapy scented oils and ceramic light bulb diffusers or lightly perfumed room sprays are all excellent choices as well.
