Baby Shower Decoration Idea

Don't Let Decorating for a Baby Shower Become a Chore

Babies make you think of pastel colors, teddy bears, and soft, fuzzy blankets. These images can spur you on to great baby shower decoration ideas. By looking at the clipart images available on baby-related web sites, such as BabyTidings.com, you will get many other fun and appropriate ideas to use in decorating your baby shower. Great work begins with an idea. That is where daydreaming or brainstorming comes into play. By letting your mind wander where it will, you become more relaxed and, in the process, you will come up with ideas that expand into lovely decorating possibilities. Some decorating themes that may spark your own decoration ideas include:
  • Noah's Ark
  • Ocean or Seashore
  • Wildflowers
  • Colors: Pink, Blue, etc...
  • Sports
  • Cowboys
  • Chocolate
  • Elephants
  • Butterflies
  • Dogs and Cats
  • Sailboats
  • Jungle
  • Seasons: Summer, Fall, Winter, Spring
  • Angels
  • Storks
  • Lambs
  • Disney
  • Little Suzy's Zoo
  • Sesame Street
  • Baby Looney Tunes Once you have a general theme picked out for your baby shower, choose a color palette for your decorations. Some themes already have a strong color choice associated with them - blue for boys or pink for girls, for example. But remember, the choice is yours and you should pick whatever suits your guest of honor's preferences and style. There are no decorating rules that prevent you from mixing colors and themes. For example, a wonderful complement to your choice of a sailboat theme would be your collection of Little Suzy's Zoo collectibles. Another example would be if you were a family of sailors who wanted to use the traditionally masculine sailboat theme and pink accents because the newborn is a girl. There is nothing wrong with making an idea all your own through your creative spirit. Most baby showers are relatively small gatherings of friends and family, and take place in the host's home. Decorations for the shower fall into three main areas that require attention.
  • Outside entrance
  • Party area
  • Cake or food table Decorate with continuity or traffic flow in mind. Picture your guests moving through your front door, and throughout the party and food area. Keep clutter to a minimum so that your guests can focus on your wonderful decorations! Always consider using these items when decorating for a baby shower:
  • Balloons
  • Curly Ribbon
  • Confetti
  • Plants or Flowers
  • Candy
  • Streamers
  • Banners
  • Tablecloth and Paper goods
  • Mini Christmas Lights
  • Candles
  • Thematic Clipart Nothing says 'Welcome' quite as well as helium-filled balloons on the ceiling, with ribbons streaming down into your guests' faces when they open the door to the party. If you don't like the balloons roaming freely, tie them in bunches of three to six each, and weigh them down with bags of candy. You can give these balloon bouquets away as party favors or as prizes for the shower games. Curled ribbon, candy, confetti, candles, plants, and flowers can all be used to decorate the cake and gift tables. Mini Christmas lights in clear or multi-colored strands can be used as a cheerful border for your table, or around a doorway or mantel. Streamers add a festive touch and are inexpensive and easily found in a rainbow of colors. Paper goods such as napkins, cups, and plates are also wonderful for accent colors. Finally, the Internet has a plethora of clipart images and wordart that can be used for banners, tablecloths, and signs.
