It is time for a very special party, and no party is complete without a cake. A baby shower cake is a fun way to celebrate the arrival of a new baby with a colorful dose of sweet creativity!
A cake complements the overall theme of the shower and provides a centerpiece for a buffet or dessert table, but it does not have to come from a bakery to be a treat. A homemade cake, made from a cake mix from the grocery store isle, or even a cake that you don't bake at all can all work perfectly as part of the celebration.
For those of you who don't bake, consider a diaper cake. By taking disposable diapers, small baby items, a baby bottle and lots of ribbon, you can construct a cake-shaped pile of presents that will make an incredible gift to your mother-to-be, and there is no baking required. By using a baby bottle filled with candy as the center of your cake and placing uniformly-wrapped bundles of gift-laden diapers around the bottle as though in tiers, then wrapping the diaper cake in ribbon to secure the diapers, you make a non-edible but very sweet baby shower cake.
