Get your baby shower guests in the mood with games revolving around baby, mom, and childbirth. They're sure to be ice-breakers. If you're planning the entertainment and games for an upcoming shower, there are two versions of the Candy Bar Game you'll want to try. One is somewhat gooey but it will have your guests laughing uncontrollably within seconds. The other version is a little more sedate, but also great fun.
Version One
Of all the games for a baby shower, perhaps this particular one gives the parents-to-be the best idea of what's coming up in their diaper-changing future. Here's what you'll need for version one of the candy bar game:
Purchase 10 different chocolate candy bars. You can buy mini-candy bars or use about half of a whole bar. Try chocolate-covered mint bars and those with nuts and other ingredients to create the effect you want.
You'll also need 10 napkins or paper towels to fold into the shape of diapers. Use safety pins to hold them together. Or, you can use 10 real diapers, disposable or cloth.
For both versions, the last thing you need is a pad of paper for each guest to write on.
Directions:
Mark each diaper, napkin or paper towel with a number from one to 10.
Crush about half of a different candy bar with a fork into each and put one or two diapers at a time into the microwave. Start with about 30 seconds and then increase or decrease the time as you see what works best. Make sure to watch this process carefully for the first couple of diapers.
Write down the name of the candy bar in each diaper as you go.
When the time comes to play the game, pass the diapers around to all your guests so they can inspect and "sniff". Have them write down their best guess as to which candy bar is the "poop" in each diaper.
The one who guesses the most correctly wins. A good prize would be--you guessed it--a candy bar.
Be sure to get plenty of pictures of your guests "diaper-sniffing" for the shower photo album.
Version Two
Another version of the candy bar game, which is a little less "yucky", is created by purchasing a dozen or so candy bars and putting them in a paper bag. Make a list of clues for each and have your guests guess which candy bar goes with which clue. The person who guesses the most correctly wins the game. Here are some examples of candy bars with names that relate to babies, parents, and childbirth. Clue examples are in parentheses.
Hundred Grand Bar (cost of college, hospital bill)
Rocky Road (first year of parent hood)
Sugar Babies (nursery full of babies)
Mr. Good Bar (daddy or doctor)
Lifesavers (grandparents or epidural!)
Chunky (pregnant mom)
Mounds (as in pile of dirty laundry or mommy's tummy)
You get the idea! Here's a few more. Take a few moments to choose your clues. Be creative.
Milky Way
Twizzlers
Twix
Candy Kisses
Baby Ruth
5th Avenue
3 Musketeers
Snickers
Sugar Daddy
Butterfingers
The best part of either of the candy bar games is that there will be lots of chocolate to pass around afterward. Or, you can use the candy bars as prizes for shower game winners.
