Decorate Your Baby Boy's Nursery with These Beautiful Themes

baby boy
Having a baby boy? Congratulations! Decorating the baby boy nursery is a great way to spend those last few weeks until your baby arrives. Themes First, you'll need to narrow your theme options, from which you have plenty to choose. These days baby boy's nurseries are not limited to an all blue theme or walls covered with sports pennants. Consider the following when decorating your baby's nursery.
  • Farm animals
  • Circus
  • Moon and Stars
  • Ocean or Aquarium
  • Cartoon or Comic characters
  • Geometric shapes
  • Jungle animals
  • Transportation: Cars, Trucks, Airplanes, Trains, and Boats.
  • Letters and Numbers
  • Sun
  • Clouds
  • Nature Colors Although blue is the traditional color for little boys, and soothing to both sexes, there are other colors that can make your baby boy's nursery appealing. Primary colors including red and yellow are stimulating to your baby's senses, while green can have a calming effect. Yellow and white can also help to make a small nursery look and feel larger. Furniture The cost of a complete set of nursery furnishings may seem overwhelming, but if you choose wisely, this purchase can last your baby boy for years to come. Look for a dresser in colors that can blend into a more "grown up" room. Alternatively, choose unpainted, finished wood for the furniture. Buy a crib that can be converted into a day bed or twin bed. If kept in good condition, your convertible crib can take your child all the way from babyhood to his early teen years, at a considerable savings to you. Think Ahead One rule of decorating any nursery is to think ahead to when your child is two, three, four or even older. Ask yourself if you will be able to adapt the current decor to your baby's growing interests. If you just can't resist duckies and bunnies, try using easy-to-change decorations. Items such as throw pillows, lamps, curtains and wall hangings are easy to change. This way when your son outgrows them, you will be able to update the room without having to dramatically or expensively redecorate it. You can also get creative with room borders. Look for a border that will stick to the walls, but will still remove easily. Make sure you apply borders over kid-proof paint. Otherwise, you will probably be re-painting once the border comes off. Keepsakes You will probably want to display keepsake items in the nursery. However, some keepsakes aren't meant for a baby's hands. Buy or make some shelving. Make sure you place the shelving high enough on the nursery walls so that your baby boy will not be able to reach them until his school years. The baby's nursery is the ideal place to hang special pictures and keepsake embroidered or sewn decorations. Your baby will delight in looking at them and they will add a unique touch to the room.
